Belman: An elderly man was injured after being attacked by a wild leopard in Mundkur village panchayat area of Karkala Taluk on Friday.
Krishna Shetty, who resides near Rajashree Rice Mill in Mulladka, was attacked by the wild cat. He has been admitted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Officials of the Forest Department, and Karkala Rural Police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
The spot is close to the village of Bola where a leopard was trapped and relocated by the forest department about 20 days ago. The captured big cat had been released at the Kudremukh Wildlife Sanctuary.
However, locals had said that there were more leopards prowling in the area.
