Karkala: Angered by the transfer of Range Forest Officer (RFO) Muniraju from Hebri eco-systems conservation activists have started a campaign to stop his transfer.
An organisation related to such activism from Mangaluru has even contacted State’s Minister for Forest and Ecology, Anand Singh and other officials in the Forest Department to immediately cancel the transfer orders.
Reportedly, this is RFO Muniraju’s 17th transfer in his 17 years of service.
It is claimed by many in the eco-activists sphere here that Muniraju had been upright in his duties of protecting the forests from encroachment, smuggling and hunting activities.
The activists are also planning to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking his intervention in the case.
