Karkala: In a fratricidal murder, a man allegedly stabbed and killed his own brother over a property dispute on Sunday, March 6 at Nitte Bajakala.

According to reports, Shekhar (50) and his younger brother Raju (35) had differences over sharing their mother’s property. Due to their differences, they lived separately. Shekhar lived on the property that belonged to his mother, while Raju lived in a shed nearby.

On Sunday, Shekhar was carrying out work related to his house courtyard and had employed laborers to transport crushed stone. Raju, who arrived at the spot, picked a quarrel over the repair work. When Shekhar ignored him and instructed the workers to continue the work, Raju was visibly angry. In a fit of rage, he reportedly went into the house, grabbed a knife, and repeatedly stabbed Shekhar.

The elder brother died at the spot due to profuse bleeding.

The accused, Raju, was later arrested and a case has been filed in the Karkala Rural police station.
