Karkala: Rain with thunderstorms; Girl injured in lightning strike

Karkala: Several parts of Karkala and Hebri experienced rain accompanied by thunderstorms on Saturday evening. In a tragic incident, a lightning strike injured a young girl.

The incident occurred at the residence of Suresh in the 3 Cents Colony of Patoonjikatte. Lightning struck the house, causing damage to the structure and injuring Suresh’s daughter, Chaitanya. She was rushed to a government hospital for treatment. Tehsildar Pradeep visited the hospital to inquire about her health.

Rain Reported in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: Sporadic rainfall was reported in parts of Dakshina Kannada on Saturday. Areas like Savanalu, Peruvarje, Palttadi, and Kadaba near Puttur experienced rainfall. In Mangaluru city, the morning began with overcast skies, but the day was largely sunny and humid.

According to the India Meteorological Department, cloudy skies and intermittent rain are expected over the next two days. On Saturday, Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 32.5°C, which was 0.8°C below normal, and a minimum temperature of 24.4°C, which was 2.9°C above normal.
