Karkala: Thieves break into temple at Bola; decamp with panchaloha idol

Belman: Thieves broke into Sri Mrityunjaya Rudra Somanatheshwar temple in Bola village of Karkala taluk of Udupi district on Sunday night and stole valuable items including the Bali idol made from panchaloha.
The theft came to light when the priests came to the temple at six o’clock on Monday morning.
Thieves gained entry by breaking the back door of the temple and took away the panchaloha idol. They also broke the donation box and stole the money. They also tried to break a locker but were unsuccessful.
The DVR that recorded the CCTV footage was found to be missing.
Meanwhile, Karkala rural police have taken up the investigation.
