Karkala: Wife of deceased labourer files complaint against 3 persons for abetting suicide

Karkala: The death of a labourer at a rubber plantation here, which was claimed to be a suicide, took a curious turn with his wife registering a complaint against 3 persons for abetment.
Sudha K S, the wife of the deceased labourer K Gopinathan Nair, has registered a complaint at the Karkala Town police station against R Vivekananda Shenoy, Dileep G, and another person for abetting her husband’s suicide.
It may be recalled that about 2 months ago, the burnt body of K Gopinathan Nair was found at the rubber plantation leased by R Vivekananda Shenoy and Dileep G. Thereafter, Karkala Town Police had registered a suicide case.
In her Complaint, Sudha alleged that Vivekananda and Dileep harassed her husband by not paying his wages on time and by not letting him avail leave when needed.
She also alleged that the accused had threatened to kill her husband if he tried to leave the job.
She further said that her husband had expressed his helplessness. He had also sent her 3 mobile numbers via WhatsApp messages, informing her to report these numbers to the police if he did not receive calls, she claimed.
On October 19, she said, Dileep called to inform her about Gopinathan’s disappearance and asked for his Aadhaar card copy for filing a missing complaint. He later informed her that her husband’s death, she alleged.
The complainant said her husband had no intention of committing suicide by setting himself on fire. The three accused had incited him into ending his life by meting out mental torture, she alleged.
