- Street lights dysfunctional due to road side work
Mulki: The roadside work and the problem caused in the street light facility at Karnad Industrial Area by the state government has effectively created a fearful atmosphere for those who pass through this stretch.
The street lamps which were installed two years back have spoilt and the road is ruled by darkness. The power cables had been removed when the roadside work was initiated. But, after the work culminated, the power cables were not rejoined. The street lamps here were installed at the cost of Rs. 40 lakh.
As this area is under the limits of the industrial area, the city panchayat has not taken any the area’s responsibility into its jurisdiction. Industrial Area Development Board is the in-charge of this area and is completely irresponsible in its functionality, accused the public.
Proper Action
“Many development works have taken place in Karnad Industrial Area. A report will asked from the concerned officials on the dysfunction of the street lamps here and action will be taken to initiate the work,” said K S Kumarappa, Deputy Development Officer, Industrial Development Board, Baikampady.
Letters ineffective
“The poor labourers that work at the numerous establishments here have to pass through this road itself. If the work had been done effectively, it would have been of much help to the people. The street lamps which have not lit since a long period have been completely spoilt. Even though a letter regarding the issue had been sent to the officials, the problem has not been rectified,” informs N Jaya Shetty, a localite.
