Karnataka 2nd best State for startups: DPIIT rankings

New Delhi: In a study done by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Karnataka has emerged as the second-best performing State in developing ecosystem startups for entrepreneurs.
Gujarat was ranked number one in the rankings.
The rankings were released by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday, September 11.
A total of 22 states and 3 union territories participated in the competition. In addition to ranking, advice was also shared with the States for improving its startup ecosystem.
This ranking was based on the performance of the States in 7 categories.
Presently, there are over 50,000 startups in India out of which 30 grown to become unicorns. According to NASSCOM-Zinnov report, India’s startup environment will continue to grow to 100 unicorns by 2025, generating 11 lakh direct jobs.
