Bengaluru: The ten-day long monsoon session of the Karnataka state assembly will begin from Monday.

With this session, a stage has been set for a war of words between the ruling Congress party and the opposition led by the BJP. The present monsoon session will be one of the shortest sessions in recent years that has been called a month in advance as the state government plans on introducing the Goods and Services Tax in the state with effect from July 1, 2017.

The session is expected to give a green signal to the GST. Meanwhile, the recent mysterious death of Karnataka cadre IAS officer Anurag Tiwari, alleged corruption scandals by the members of the ruling party and others are expected to create a heated debate during the session.
