Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy awards announced

Mangaluru: Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy have chosen Zulekha Mumthaz, Khalid Thannirbavi and Noor Mohammed to receive its annual Honorary Awards 2018, informed Academy President Karambar Mohammed.

Speaking at a press meet here on Thursday, July 25 Mohammed said that Zulekha Mumthaz, Khalid Thannirbavi and Noor Mohammed are being honoured for their contributions in field of Beary literature, Beary art and Beary folk respectively. The awards comprises of Rs 50,000 and a citation.

In addition, the Academy will felicitate achievers V Mohammed (Lifeguard) and B M Ummar Haji (Social Service)with honourary awards.

The award ceremony is likely to be held in the month of August and will be inaugurated by former minister U T Khader. president of Karnataka State Minorities Commission G A Bawa will unveil the first Beary grammar book.

Registrar Chandrahas Rai, members Basheer Baikampady and others were present.
