New Delhi/Bengaluru: Karnataka chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah in a request to Union Minister of Railways, Ashok Prabhu urged to start various pending railway projects in Karnataka including Hubballi-Ankola railway line in a meeting with the union minister on Thursday morning in the national capital.

Chief Minister informed the minister that, earlier the proposed railway line between Hubballi and Ankola was stalled following objections from Union Ministry for Environment. However, at present the project is still pending even if the environment ministry has signalled green for the new railway line.

Siddaramaiah also urged Prabhu to take necessary steps to establish a railway coach factory in Kolar in state-union government partnership as announced in the last union budget.  He also asked the union minister to start two trains including a hi-speed and a sub urban train between Bengaluru, Mysuru and another metro city, Chennai in an attempt to connect the three cities through two different train systems.
