Belagavi: In a first case of its kind in the State, a 50-year-old man admitted in the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences has tested positive for the novel coronavirus the next day after recovering from it.
The man was admitted on April 16. He is a secondary contact of a Tablighi Jamaat returnee.
He was discharged from the Institute on May 4 after having tested negative twice. However, the next day symptoms showed on him and he was re-admitted after testing positive.
The man is also suffering from cardiac ailments.
Medical experts are of the opinion that due to his old age and comorbidities he might have been more vulnerable.
Additionally, it is also opined that test results depend largely on the ‘virus load.’ If the virus load is low it can resurge later causing the relapse.
