Bengaluru: Karnataka state government has appointed Mysuru native HC Kishore Chandra as new Director General of Police with effect from November 1, 2017. He is the only Kannadiga to take charge as DGP after Shankar Bidari.
Kishore Chandra is a 1984 batch IPS officer. He is also a MA graduate and holds diploma in law. Current DGP RK Dutta is scheduled to retire from service on October 31. An official announcement on the selection is expected to be made by the government on evening hours of Monday.
