Karkala: Students studying in classes 1 to 8 of the State government and other aided schools will get the cooking cost of the mid-day meals as directed by the Central government’s education ministry.

The cost of preparing the mid-day meals for 50 days in the months of May and June 2021 will be credited to the school children’s bank account.

The Department of Public Instruction has already sent a circular regarding this to schools.

This time rice and wheat were delivered to the homes of the school children with the intention of providing nutritious food to school children during the summer months. Now the cost of food preparation is also being paid to the children.

“Many students already have a bank account for receiving scholarships money. Those who do not have one can open a zero balance account at a nearby nationalized, rural or post office bank,” said officials in the Dakshina Kannada district’s Akshara Dasoha (Mid-Day Meal Scheme) department.
