Bengaluru: The Congress party is gearing up for a statewide protest in response to the Governor’s decision to grant permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the MUDA case. Massive protests are scheduled across district headquarters on Monday. The Congress has accused the Governor of acting as a puppet of the Central government and has decided to send a memorandum to the President of India via email.
KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar has directed all district Congress committees to organize large-scale protests on August 19, starting at 11 AM. He has instructed all ministers and MLAs to participate in these district-level protests.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced, “A statewide protest has been organized on August 19, Monday at 11 AM, against the Governor’s permission for prosecution against CM Siddaramaiah. I request all party workers and leaders to participate in this protest.”
The party has also directed that memorandums condemning the Governor’s unconstitutional action be sent directly to the President of India ([email protected]) via email and through the concerned district officials.
The Congress has also planned a half-kilometer march to the protest sites.
