Karnataka MLC polls: Congress fields Nagaraju Yadav and K. Abdul Jabbar

Bengaluru: The Congress party on Monday, May 23 released the list of candidates for the biennial election to the Karnataka Legislative Council.

“The Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has approved the proposal for the candidature of the following persons as Congress candidates to contest the biennial elections to the Legislative Council of Karnataka to be elected by the MLAs. 1. Shri M. Nagaraju Yadav 2. Shri K. Abdul Jabbar,” AICC press release stated.

Congress has party fielded Congress minority cell president, Abdul Jabbar for the Muslim quota seat and Nagaraj Yadav for the Yadav Community seat.

The last date of submission of filing nominations is Tuesday for seven vacant seats in the Council. The election will be held on June 3. The election was necessitated as the term of office of seven members is going to expire on June 14.
