Udupi/Mangaluru: The new school academic year is beginning today, i.e. Wednesday, May 29. Admission processes have already commenced.
In preparation for the new academic year, most schools have completed essential repairs and improvements. This includes providing necessary amenities, repairing furniture, and ensuring campus cleanliness to attract students. Several schools have submitted proposals for new rooms to accommodate growing student numbers.
With the onset of the rainy season, safety measures for children are a top priority. Some schools have already implemented precautionary measures, and further safety works will commence immediately.
School commencement on May 31
Although the academic year begins on May 29, the classes will start on May 31.
Schools will celebrate this event with grandeur. Trinkets will adorn the main entrances, and sweets will be distributed to welcome new students.
The district office has instructed schools to organize programs inviting local dignitaries, elders, donors, and education enthusiasts. Preparations for these events are underway across the district.
Door-to-Door Admissions in Government Schools
In government schools, the admission process will continue throughout June. Headmasters and teachers will visit homes in their respective areas to encourage guardians and parents to enroll their children. This personalized approach aims to ensure all eligible children are identified and admitted.
Distribution of Facilities
Newly admitted and existing students in government schools will receive textbooks, uniforms, and other essential materials. While some facilities are distributed symbolically on the first day, provisions like hot meals and Ksheerabhagya milk program will start immediately.
On the first day, schools will prioritize extra-curricular activities and introductions over regular lessons to help students settle in.
