Karnataka Police likely to get two more DGP posts soon

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Police may be sanctioned two more posts of Director General of Police (DGP) soon.
The State government had last year sent the proposal to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and is awaiting approval.
The process for approval is long as the MHA sends the proposal to the Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Finance, Cabinet Secretary and the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet before notification is issued to the State.
Presently the State has six DGPs including the Director-General & Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) of Karnataka Praveen Sood.
The other DGPs include PS Sandhu, DGP(Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services); Amar Pandey, DGP (Prisons); Alok Mohan, DGP (Civil Rights Enforcement), P Ravindranath and the incumbent Bengaluru city police commissioner Kamal Pant.
