Mysuru: Congress accused the BJP government in the state of fooling the people of Karnataka in the name of reservation. Calling it the “Double Engine Dhoka”, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala tried to corner the BJP on the reservation issue.
At a press meeting in Mysuru, attended by KPCC president D K Shivakumar, Surjewala posed the following 9 questions to the BJP:
“1. Why did u play a “fraud of reservation” on Lingayats, Vokkaligas, SC, ST?
2. Why did you (the Bommai government) not defend the reservation in Supreme Court?
3. Why did Bommai-Modi Govt fail to file an affidavit in Supreme Court in the Reservation case?
4. Why did Modi government reject increased reservation for SC-ST on the floor of Parliament on March 14, 2023?
5. Why was the law on increased reservation for SC-ST not put in the IXth Schedule of the Constitution by the Central government?
6. Why are u refusing to increase the 50% ceiling of the reservation to meet the aspirations of SC, ST, OBC, Lingayats, Vokkaligas, and others?
7. Why are you (BJP) unjustifiably targeting Minority reservations for polarization?
8. Why has Bommai Govt got its own Government Order on Reservation stayed by making a statement in the Supreme Court?
9. Will PM publicly apologize to SC, ST, Lingayats, Vokkaligas, and others for the treachery committed by BJP in the name of reservation?”
Congress will surely form govt: DKShi
Meanwhile, D K Shivakumar expressed his confidence that Congress will win 150 seats in the upcoming state Assembly elections. BJP will win only 40 seats, he confidently claimed.
Congress will form the government in 15 days, he said, and added that he was ready to write it with his blood.
