Ballari: In an unexpected turn of events, a pregnant woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy inside the polling station premises during the Karnataka Assembly Elections here.
The incident was reported from Polling Station No. 228 in Korlagundi village, under the Kampli Assembly Constituency, on Wednesday, leaving election officials and bystanders amazed.
The woman, identified as Manila, had arrived at the polling booth to exercise her right to vote during the ongoing assembly elections. However, as fate would have it, labor pains struck her unexpectedly.
Responding swiftly to the situation, the polling booth staff acted promptly and escorted Manila to an adjacent room, providing immediate assistance and support. In a display of remarkable courage, Manila successfully delivered her baby boy.
Both mother and child are reported to be in good health following the delivery. After giving birth, Manila was subsequently transferred to the nearest primary health center to receive postnatal care and ensure the well-being of both herself and her newborn.
