Karnataka State Muaythai Championship on Oct 7th

Mangaluru: “The Art of Eight Limbs” will make its debut in the district this October with the Karnataka State Muay Thai Championship being hosted at officers club Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada on Sunday October 7th. It is also the first time in and around the South Canara & Coastal Districts where the Muaythai Association of Karnataka(R) (MAK) is hosting a grand Combat Sport event of this caliber.
The Muaythai Association of Karnataka(R) (MAK) will be conducting the state’s major Muaythai tournament as sanctioned by the United Amateur Muaythai Association of India(R) (UAMAI). Through this state championship, MAK aims to select and delegate the strongest state team for competition at the UAMAI National Muaythai Championship 2018 which will be held at Pune, Maharastra from November 14th to 18th, 2018.
Dakshina Kannada District Muaythai Association was formed and inaugurated at 3rd Floor, Hotel Kudla, Balmatta, Mangaluru on September 20th, 2018. The state championship event will be hosted by Dakshina Kannada District Muaythai Association affiliated to MAK. Karnataka State Muaythai Championship will feature some of the highest level Muay Thai Fighters from different parts of the state. The MAK have an excellent history in running their annual campaigns, all of them continuously crown high-caliber champions – capable of performing well for Karnataka in the National and International tournaments.
Few MAK Achievements:
• MAK state team won the Runners-Up Trophy with 1 Gold, 3 Silver, 3 Bronze Medals in MINF National Federation Cup 2016 at Mumbai, Maharastra.
• MAK won overall champion with 6 Gold, 8 Silver, 4 Bronze Medals in Jaipur
• MAK has conducted Street and Civilian Self Defense workshop & seminars numerous schools & colleges.
• MAK Athletes represented the country in World Muythai Championship 2017, at Bangkok Thailand and won 4 Silver & 1 Bronze medals.
By hosting this unifying tournament, the MAK has extended exclusive invitations to the tournament champions for the opportunity to compete in the nationals at Pune, Maharastra. This yields a process to give everyone, regardless of region within the state, an equal opportunity to earn a prestigious spot on the team by participating and winning in any of those tournaments.

Opening ceremony
Muaythai Association of Karnataka will be conducting Karnataka State Muaythai Championship on 7th of October, 2018 at 9.00 am in Officer’s Club, Mangaluru.
The Inauguration of the tournament will be done by Sri. K. Prakash Shetty, Chairman, MRG Hospitality and Infrastructure PVT. LTD., Bengaluru & lighting of the lamp will be done by Sri. Shashikant Senthil, District Commissioner, Dakhshina Kannada.
Sri A Sadanand Shetty, Honorable President, Association of Karnataka will preside over the inauguration programme. Sri. T. R. Suresh , Police Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada, Sri. Dr. A. J. Shetty, President Laxmi Memorial Education Trust(R), Sri. Capt. Ganesh Karnik, Ex. MLC, Sri. Gokuldas Nayak, Joint Commissioner, MCC, Sri. Srinath Hebbar, Chairman, Land Trades, Mangaluru, Sri. Walter Nandalike, Founder, Daijiworld, Mangaluru , Sri. Mansoor Ahmed, Azad Hardware, Mangaluru and Sri. Musharaf, Managing Director, MS Sportswear, Mangaluru, will be chief guest for the programme.
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony and the award distribution of the tournament will be done by Still U.T Khader, (hon’ble Minister for Urban development and housing) and also K Bhaskar , mayor, Mangaluru

Ivan D’Souza, MLC, Sri. Dayachand Bhola, General Secretary, (uamai), Sri. Mansoor Ahmed, Azad Hardware, Mangaluru and Sri. Musharaf, Managing Director, MS Sportswear, Mangaluru.
