Karnataka to float global tender for vaccine procurement

 Bengaluru: Deputy chief minister and Covid Task Force chief Dr C N Ashwath Narayan on Tuesday said that the government will float global tenders to procure 2 crore doses of vaccines

He was speaking during the Covid Task Force meeting held under his chairmanship

Narayan said that the government has placed orders for 3 crore doses of vaccine, including 1 crore doses of Covaxine and 2 crore doses of Covishield vaccines.

Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, he said, ” We have decided to invite the tenders and any company can participate. The government wants the process to be  completed within seven days’’

Narayan further urged people from the cities to not go to villages to get themselves vaccinated as it will affect the vaccination in rural areas
