Karwar: In a tragic incident at the Ravindranath Tagore Beach here, a man died after the motor of the paraglider he was flying developed problems causing the paraglide to fall into the sea.
The deceased has been identified as Captain BS Madhusudan Reddy (54), a Seabird employee who was flying the paraglide along with a pilot.
The pilot of the paraglide V Vaidya escaped unharmed while Reddy died at the hospital.
It was reported that that the ambulance arrived at the scene more than half an hour after the accident, despite the medical college-affiliated district hospital being located close to the beach.
Later, Reddy was rushed to the hospital in a police vehicle by Sub Inspector Santosh from the city’s police station. But Reddy died without responding to treatment.
