Karwar: Businessman hacked to death; His wife seriously injured

Karwar: A couple was attacked with weapons at a house in Hankon village in Karwar Taluk in the wee hours of Sunday. The husband was killed, whereas the wife has been critically injured in the attack.

Vinayak Naik (56), a businessman who set up an industry in Pune, was found murdered. His wife Vaishali suffered severe head injuries and has been admitted to Karwar district hospital.

Vinayak Naik and Vaishali hailed from Hankon and lived in Pune city. He had come from Pune to the Satheri Devi fair and was staying at a house in Hankon.

Whether it was a case of enmity or robbery is yet to ascertained.

Chittakula police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Dog squads and fingerprint experts have reached the crime scene.
