Karwar: An incident of a girl falsifying her abduction to save herself from being scolded by her parents was reported from Nandolli in Yallapur taluk in Uttara Kannada district.

On Wednesday, after her parents had learnt from her school teachers that she had not finished her homework, the girl had stayed in the forest near her house after returning from school.

Late in the night, she tied up her legs and hands and shouted for help from the forest. Two people on a motorbike passing through the place heard her and took her to her house.

She narrated to her parents that she was kidnapped by two bike-borne men and later let off with a warning that she remain silent about her kidnapping or her family too will be harmed.

Her abduction story caused terror in and around her village.

However, after a scrupulous probe by the police for two days, she finally told the truth.
