Kasaragod Court sentences man to life for murder of partner in 2013

The Kasaragod Additional District Sessions Court has sentenced Santosh Doddmane (40), a native of Bijapur, to life imprisonment and fined him Rs 2 lakh for the 2013 murder of his partner, Hulugamma (35), a resident of Udupi.
The incident occurred on July 31, 2013, in a quarters in Uppala Hidayat Nagar where they lived together. Santosh reportedly strangled Hulugamma with her own saree and later decamped with her gold jewelry, cash, and mobile phone.
Both were employed as laborers, and the case was initially registered and investigated by the Manjeshwar Police.
The court, in its verdict, decreed that failure to pay the fine would result in an additional two-year imprisonment.
