Kasaragod district reports first Covid-19 fatality

Kasaragod: A 74-year-old from Uppala became the first COVID-19 casualty of the district on Friday, July 17 night.
The deceased was the resident of Hidayat Nagar. After testing positive for the virus on July 11, she was being treated at Kannur Medical College Hospital. She was suffering from acute respiratory complications.
Seven other members of her family were also tested positive for COVOD. Six among them are children. They were diagnosed with this infection on Thursday, July 16.
The district which was declared as the COVID-19 hotspot in April first week was able to contain the spread of coronavirus infection during the first two phases. However, in the third phase, community spread is being witnessed.
