Kasaragod: Duo arrested for illegally transporting 1.39 kg gold

Kasaragod: Two persons were arrested for allegedly transporting gold illegally in a car.

Reports said that Manjeshwar police have arrested Patil (45) and Ramachandra (40), natives of Maharastra. They resided in Kasaragod Pallam, police added.

Gold weighing 1.39 kg was confiscated from them on April 12.  Gold was reportedly hidden in a separate shelf fashioned to conceal its presence.

A search operation was launched after police received credible information about gold trafficking. All vehicles, moving towards Mangaluru were being checked at 4.15 am on Tuesday, when the gold was found in the car driven by the duo.
