Kasaragod: Police have received intel inputs on the presence of Naxals in Ayyankunnu area of Iritty Kannur located on the Kerala-Karnataka border.

As per the police investigation, a group of five Naxals had arrived at the residence of Baiju, a Tudimaran resident. They prepared and had food at his residence. The group left for their camp at around 10.15 pm after collecting rice, kerosene, coconut and other essentials from Baiju’s house.

Only Baiju and his mother Chandrika reside at the house. The duo in their statement to the investigative team asserted that Naxals had visited their house a few days ago and that they had not revealed the matter fearing for their life.

Reportedly, Naxal leader CP Moideen had been spotted in the Vaniyampara area in Kannur. Following this, Naxal movement is said to have increased in the nearby hilly areas. Police have taken serious note of this and informed police stations under Adhur, Bedaga, Cheemeni, Chittarikkal, and Rajapuram police stations in Kasaragod district jurisdictional limits to maintain a strict vigil.
