Kasaragod: Six arrested in tent collapse at school science fair

Kasaragod: Six persons, including the contractor, were reportedly taken into custody by Manjeshwar police in the tent collapse case at the Sub-District Science Exhibition held on Friday.

Manjeshwar police arrested the accused — identified as  Gokuldas, Ahmed Ali A P, Abdul Basheer, Abdul Shameel, Ilyas Mohammed, and Ashraf – and booked them under various provisions of the law.

As many as 59 persons were injured after the pandal/ tent at the science fair organized at the Bekur Government Higher Secondary School premises on Friday. About 15 of the injured are still being treated at hospitals in Kasaragod and neighboring Mangaluru.

Soon after the incident, the Kerala government had ordered an inquiry into the mishap.
