Kasargod: The mysterious death of Abdul Gafoor Haji (53), a non-resident businessman has been confirmed as a murder. A special investigation team has arrested four individuals in connection with the case.

The arrested include Jinnumma alias Shameem, her husband Ubaid, and their associates Asneef of Poochakkad and Ayesha of Madhur.

On April 14, 2023, Gafoor Haji was found dead in his home. His body was exhumed and subjected to a post-mortem after his son raised suspicions over his death and filed a complaint.

The post-mortem revealed that a severe head injury caused his death. Further investigation uncovered that 612 sovereigns of gold jewelry had been stolen from the house.

On the day of his death, Gafoor Haji was alone at home as his wife and children were visiting her parental home.

Haji was found dead by the neighbours the next morning when he failed to respond. The suspicion of robbery-related murder grew stronger when it was revealed that a woman known for practicing witchcraft had visited the house before the incident.

Initially investigated by the Bekal Police, the case was later handed over to the DCRB.

Gafoor Haji, along with his brothers, owned four supermarkets in Sharjah and Dubai.
