Kasargod: Custom officials thwart smuggling bid seize over 15 kg gold from duo

Kasargod: Acting on credible information regarding gold smuggling, customs officials arrested two persons and confiscated 15.5 kilograms of gold valued at Rs 6.2 crore from their possession here on Tuesday, February 4.

The arrested identified as Khetan (29) and Akash (23) are natives of Maharashtra.

The duo was smuggling the gold in a car, bearing Maharashtra registration number from Thalassery to Maharashtra when it was intercepted by the custom officials near Bekal Pallikere toll booth.

Upon checking, the officials found gold billets concealed within the cushions of the front and rear car seats.

An investigation is on to trace others involved in the case.
