A man who had loaned a sum of Rs 80 lakhs to realtor Moideen Kunhi allegedly plotted his kidnap to recover his dues.
On May 27 the victim Kunhi, 49, a resident of Goliadka was kidnapped by a gang from outside a restaurant in Badiadka town at around 4 PM. Kunhi raised an alarm which alerted the locals who then notified the police.
The police swung in action quickly and chased the car in which Kunhi was abducted. They managed to intercept the kidnappers’ car at Manya Road and arrested three persons — Sharif and Abdul Hakeem, both residents of Chengala 4th mile and Nizamuddin, a resident of Chattanchal. The police also seized the Maruti car that was used in the crime.
Kunhi who is said to have sustained injuries to his hand during the incident has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Police said that the kidnapping was planned as Kunhi did not clear the loan he had taken from one of the gang members.
