Kateel: 45 couples walked into married life through a simple marriage organized at Sri Durgaparameshwari temple in Kateel. This is this year’s highest number of marriages. Besides this, another 10 marriages had already been done at the auditorium in the premises of the temple.

Two counters had been created to facilitate the marriage. A special counter was created for registration. Couples came from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasaragod and from Madikeri as well. Since there were more couples or marriage, there was also an increase in the crown at the temple. Hence barricades were installed. In order to control the traffic density, private traffic wardens and security personnel were appointed.

For a simple marriage, the temple bears and expense of Rs 300 for the marriage and another Rs 200 for other expenses. The garland and Karimane has to be brought by the wedding party self.
