Katpadi masjid committee meet turns violent; gun shot reported

Udupi: Six persons have been hospitalised after a general body meeting of the management committee of the Katapady Jumma Masjid took a violent turn here on Wednesday, October 24. 

M.M. Akbar, Anwar, A.R. Akbar, Hamid and two others sustained injuries in the clash and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Clashes erupted between the two groups over some differences relating to the mosque management. Reportedly two persons, belonging to one of the groups even resorted to firing a gunshot and brandishing sword to scare away the other group. Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the spot but both the groups had dispersed by then.

The jurisdictional Kaup Police have registered two separate cases in this connection.
