Kaup: Huge fire after explosion at scrap shop; Two dead, three injured

Kaup: A fire broke out following an explosion at a scrap shop at Mallaru Pakeeranakatte here on Monday.

It is gathered that a gas cylinder, which was stored inside the scrap shop situated near Mallaru Dhaba residence, exploded.

According to eyewitnesses, there were five people inside the scrap shop at the time of the incident. Two people died and three have suffered serious injuries.

The fire was quickly spreading to buildings in the vicinity. Many houses, residential complexes, and a mosque are quite close to the source of the fire.

Meanwhile, fire tenders fire brigades from Udupi, Adani-UPCL, and ISPRL have been pressed into action. They were busy dousing the fire when this report was being published.

A huge crowd also gathered near the spot.  More information is yet to be available.
