Kaup: A 24-year-old man died after a freak scooter accident caused by a peacock on NH 66, at Ermal.

The deceased has been identified as Abdullah (24), a resident of Belapu village who was working in a mobile phone shop.

It is said that while Abdullah was going from Belapu village to Padubidri on his two-wheeler, a peacock that was trying to cross the highway flying over the road, hit Abdullah’s head.

Abdullah lost control of the vehicle and crashed against the divider and died on the spot. Due to the impact of the accident, the peacock too died on the spot.

A case has been registered at Padubidri police station.

Locals have requested the forest department to take appropriate action against the growing peacock menace in Kaup. They alleged that the peacocks are destroying the crops in the fields and also fly and walk on the highways causing hindrance to the motorists.
