Kaup: Brahma Kamala – a unique flower that blossoms in the night and dies by sunrise – present in tens at the house of Shobha Sudhakar at Uliyargoli village in Kaup town limits has caused amazement in neighbours.
Also called ‘Ratri Rani’ (Night Queen), this flower variety is one among the species that blooms only in the night, during its season, once a year.
In Hindu mythology, it is also called as the ‘white lotus.’
This flower, which is found mostly in Uttarakhand and the Himalayas, is called Brahma Kamala because it grows high in the mountains.
