Kaup: One arrested for issuing death threats to Yashpal Suvarna

Kaup: A person wanted in the case of death threats issued to BJP OBC Morcha’s National Chief Secretary Yashpal Suvarna has been arrested, police said on Saturday.

The accused arrested has been identified as Mohammad Shafi of Bajpe, a lorry driver by profession.

According to police, Shafi was behind the Instagram handle Maarigudi_06 that issued death threats to Suvarna and Pramod Muthalik. The post had photographs of the Hindu leaders and announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for their assassination.

Police said the accused was traced using the IP address and other clues from the posts made. He was arrested from Bajpe on June 18, police added.

Another named Mohammad Asif helped Shafi in the crime and the police were on his lookout.
