Kaup: Paramilitary soldier laid to rest with state honors in Padur

Kaup: The last rites of paramilitary soldier Wilson Naveen Kumar Karkada (50), who died of a heart attack while on duty in Jharkhand, were performed with full state honors at the CSI Immanuel Church at Padur on Sunday.
Wilson was a resident of Kalathur Kannadarabettu in Kaup taluk. He joined the paramilitary as the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) in 1992. He is survived by his wife, two sons, two brothers, and two sisters.
As a CISF personnel, he had served in Bihar, Ranchi, Delhi, Mysuru, and Nagpur over the past 29 years. He was due for retirement next year, sources said.
After paying state honors at the CISF base in Jharkhand, the mortal remains were brought to Mangalore International Airport via Kolkata and Bombay and taken to his home by army personnel.
MLA Lalaji R Mendon, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, coastal development authority president Mattru Rathnakar Hegde, social worker Suresh P Shetty Gurme, and others attended the funeral service.
The final rites and prayers for the departed were held at the Padur CSI Immanuel Church led by pastor Reshma Ravikala. Personnel from CISF and Shirva Police Station in-charge Srishaila Muragoda paid government honors.
