Kaup: Robbery suspects arrested in dramatic chase on NH 66

Kaup: In a dramatic operation on Saturday night, Kapu police apprehended several suspects traveling in a Scorpio car on National Highway 66 to “carry out a robbery”.
The suspects, identified as Amit Raj, Prakash Surathkal, Varun Neermarga, Karthik Shetty Surathkal, Abhishek, and Srikant Shripati Farangipete, were intercepted by police near Kotalakatte on NH 66.
Incident Details: Kaup Circle Inspector (CI) Jayashree Mane, while traveling from Udupi towards Kapu, observed a Scorpio car suspiciously parked on the Udyavar bridge. When she attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects drove it dangerously towards Kaup.
CI Mane immediately alerted the Kaup and Padubidri police. With the cooperation of a team led by Kaup Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Khader, the police successfully intercepted the Scorpio car near Kotalakatte.
Upon taking the suspects into custody and conducting a search, the police discovered that they were plotting a robbery. Weapons, including a dragger, a knife, an iron pipe, and sand-mixed chilli powder, were found in the vehicle. The suspects are now undergoing further interrogation.
