Kaup: Scooter rider seriously injured after being knocked down by car

Kaup: In a hit-and-run case, a scooter rider was seriously injured after being hit by a car near Katpadi Mudubettu on National Highway 66 on Thursday.

The injured has been identified as Gopa Poojary (70), a resident of Kaup and a retired Vijay Bank personnel.

Poojary was riding towards Kaup from Udupi when the car moving in the same direction knocked him down. He was thrown onto the road and sustained serious injuries.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Udupi before being referred to a hospital in Manipal for further medical treatment.

The driver of the car involved fled the scene without stopping and a search is underway. Kaup police have registered a case.
