Kaup: Tauktae causes sea water to cross shoreline; residents in terror

Kaup: The seawater here has crossed over the shoreline and started entering areas near the lighthouse causing fear in the locals.

The water has already entered more than 30 houses in the area.

Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon and other officials from the town council and taluk panchayat have visited few flood-prone areas.

“Water has started to enter houses near the Kaup beach so measures have already been set in place to evacuate people if the need arises,” said Mendon.

“The Kaup Tsunami Centre has been opened and a Ganji Kendra has also been started within it. Officials have been notified to start Ganji Kendras in gram panchayats. All special arrangements have been made to protect people and livestock,” said Kaup tehsildar Pratibha R.
