Kaup: A software engineer from Padubidri fell prey to fraudsters who fleeced him off nearly Rs 27.95 lac by assuring to land modelling assignments for him.
The victim, Cedric Cutinho registered a complaint with Padubidri police in this regard.
In the complaint, Cutinho said that a person named Priyanka, who claimed to be from Mumbai contacted him and spoke to him about considering modelling stating that one can upto Rs 1-2 lakhs from the assignments. She gave her account number asking Cutinho to remit Rs 20,000 as coordinator fees.
Later Cutinho on different instances transferred money to the bank accounts provided by the accused. On March 7, the accused asked him to reach Andheri for a photoshoot and ask for Mukesh and Mohan G. When Cutinho arrived at the designated place, he did not find these people.
Upon realising that he was cheated he approached the police to file a complaint.
