New Delhi/Bengaluru: Members of Kannada Development Authority (Kannada Abhivrudhi Praadhikaara) met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi on Saturday and submitted a memorandum to register KDA’s objection to the centralized recruitment system for the banks across the country.

KDA stated that the centralized recruitment system is unscientific and not sensitive to regional aspects of the country.  KDA urged union minister that, the proposed banking recruitment examination for officers and  office assistants supposed to be conducted in September, 2017 should be kept in abeyance till such time all the issues relating to proper representation to native youngsters are sorted out.

Medium of examination should be in all the 22 officially recognized languages of the constitution.  The present Hindi,  English mode of examination is a blatant violation of constitutional principles, KDA said.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) be directed to modify its eligibility criteria with respect to proficiency in local language to provide that “Good command over local language is a compulsory requirement for candidates applying for all kinds of posts in the participating RRB’s/banks.  Consequently, the candidates should also be required to submit information regarding local languages studied in matriculation/10+2/ graduation in all online application forms.  Candidates shortlisted on the basis of competitive examination will therefore be able to apply to only those RRB’s situated in states whose local language they have studied in matriculation/10+2/ Graduation. Even after recruitment, if the candidate   fails to have good command in the local language his services should be terminated within a period of six months from appointment, and the local candidates who are waiting should be consequentially appointed in order of their merit, KDA added.

The KDA delegation was included union ministers Anath Kumar and Ramesh Jigajinagi, prof. SG Siddaramaiah, chairman, KDA, Bengaluru, professor SL Bhyrappa, renowned Kannada writer, Dr. Chandrashekara Kambara and other eminent personalities.
