Kejriwal hands over cheque of Rs 1 cr to family of IAF personnel who died in 2019 aircraft crash

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the family of Rajesh Kumar who died in 2019 after the IAF aircraft he was on crashed during a training sortie.
Kejriwal promised all help to the family and said one of Kumar”s sister has been enrolled in the civil defence and the other will also be provided with a job.p
“Loss of life can never be compensated with anything but I hope that the Samman Rashi will provide some support and strength to the bereaved family.
“The Delhi government has already enrolled one sister of the braveheart into Civil Defence and the other will also be provided with a job opportunity. We will do whatever we can to help and stand by the family,” Kejriwal told reporters after meeting Kumar’s family.
At the time of his death in 2019, he was posted in Jorhat in Assam.
Kumar’s aircraft which was on an Operational Training Sortie (Air Maintenance) to LG40 Menchuka in Arunachal Pradesh where it crashed into the high terrain valley.
Kumar is survived by his wife, an infant son and a family of six. His father works as a Security Guard, his mother is a housewife, two brothers work as daily wagers.
Asked about the killing of a school principal and teacher inside school premises in Srinagar on Thursday, Kejriwal said, “I condemn the killing and I appeal the government to take steps that are necessary to counter terrorism and also ensure safety of our citizens”.
