Kejriwal should resign if he has any morality left: BJP on Kapil Mishra expose

New Delhi: The Delhi unit of BJP on Sunday demanded resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been accused by AAP MLA and sacked minister Kapil Mishra of taking Rs 2 crore illegal cash, on moral grounds.

Manoj Tiwari, the city unit chief of the BJP, said Kejriwal should step down if he has any morality left with him, within hours of Mishra’s stunning charges of corruption against Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

“Kejriwal should resign if has any morality left with him because Kapil Mishra, who was a minister in the government has accused him of corruption. I am going to meet the Lt Governor in this regard,” Tiwari added.

Tiwari said in a press conference, “In case Kejriwal doesn’t resign, the Lt Governor should examine the possibility of recommending ‘dismissal’ of the AAP-led Delhi government to the President,”

Following Kapil Mishra’s expose, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came down heavily on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal, asserted that the development clearly proves that the Delhi government has only one agenda- power.

BJP leader Nalin Kohli said, “Kejriwal came on tall promises of eradicating corruption. They came on a promise that they will bring an alternative sort of democratic government that would be involving the people and be of cleanest standard, but in return we have only seen politics full of accusations, allegations, excuses and no work.”

Branding ousted AAP leader Kapil Mishra’s revelation as a ‘serious issue’, Kohli demanded a proper investigation in connection with the matter.

“This is an extremely serious kind of allegation that Kapil Mishra has raised straight on Kejriwal. It must be investigated fully and once the evidence comes, whatever action in law can be there should be taken,” he added.

Resonating similar views, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi said that following Kapil Mishra’s revelation it has been proved that those supporting Kejriwal in his corruption will be applauded, but those who will raise their voice against him will be shown the exit door.

“Kejriwal has become so self obsessed with power that he is not able to differentiate between maladministration and administration,” she added.

Meanwhile, Kapil Mishra has alleged that he saw Cabinet Minister Satyendra Jain give Rs 2 crore to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“On Friday, I saw Satyendra Jain giving Rs 2 crore to Arvind Kejriwal and I wasn’t able to sleep the entire night,” Mishra said in a press briefing here after meeting Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

Mishra also claimed that he urged the Chief Minister to disclose as to from where he got the money.

“There are several allegations on money laundering and black money against Satyendra Jain which are known to all. It is known to all that before holding the post of Delhi Cabinet Minister and after taking the oath, he gave a prominent position to his daughter and other relatives,” he said.

However, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has flatly rejected the charges as absurd and baseless.

“There is nothing much that I can say about the baseless allegations that he has charged against us on Sunday. These things are not even worth answering, nobody is going to believe in it,” said Sisodia in a quick press briefing.

Earlier on Saturday, Shortly after being removed from the Delhi Cabinet, Mishra said he may have been axed for saying he would submit the names of those people involved in the tanker scam to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).

“It has nothing to do with the MCD polls, and till now, I have not received any official confirmation so far. But I met Arvind Kejriwal this morning, and I said that it has been a year since the report on the tanker scam was tabled and no action has been taken,” Mishra said.

“I had told him that I will submit the names of the responsible persons to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB),” Mishra added.

He said he would expose the names involved in the tanker scam on Sunday.

However, sources close to Kejriwal claim that Mishra did not meet the Chief Minister and neither had he submitted any papers related to the tanker scam.

“I have also written a letter to the ACB and have sought appointment from them. I will expose everyone involved in the scam and will apprise the ACB,” he added.

He also denied that he was ousted for supporting AAP leader Kumar Vishwas.

Mishra tweeted that he was the only minister who has not come under the CBI scanner and has not been charged with corruption.

“I am the only minister with no corruption charges. No CBI enquiry against me,” he said.

This decision came soon after the AAP suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the BJP in the recently concluded MCD polls.
