Mangaluru: Police detained some Kerala-based media persons early on Friday in front of Government Wenlock hospital, where the post-mortem of the deceased was underway.

The journalists had arrived here to report and speak to family members of those killed in police firing on Thursday. Their cameras were seized and were made to sit inside a van outside the Wenlock Hospital morgue.

The detained journalists belonged to Asianet, 24 channel, MediaOne and Mathrubhumi.

Police said that few of the journalists were detained for questioning as they suspected their accreditation cards.

Meanwhile, entry of those coming from Kerala to Mangaluru was restricted at Talappady border as police were checking identity cards before allowing them in emergency cases.

At least 50 men and women who had arrived by a train from Kerala were taken into custody for trying to enter the city without identity cards.
