Kochi: Kerala on Monday extended the state-wide lockdown till June 16, the state CMO announced as the transmission of the COVID-19 has not been contained as anticipated.
There will be a complete lockdown on June 12 (Saturday) and June 13 (Sunday), it added.
Stores selling essential commodities, raw materials for industries, construction materials and banks will continue to function as they do now.
All the existing restrictions will continue to remain in place till June 16 with essential shops exempted.
The state has been under lockdown since May 8 following the sharp rise in coronavirus cases. The government had earlier extended the statewide shutdown thrice on May 16, May 23 and May 31 after reviewing the situation.
