Kannur: In a shocking turn of events, a 67-year-old man presumed dead was found alive in the mortuary of AKG Hospital in Kannur. The incident has left the family, hospital staff, and the local community astonished.

The man, identified as Velluvakkandi Pavithran from Pachapoika, Kannur, had been undergoing treatment for severe heart and lung ailments at a private hospital in Mangaluru. His condition had been deteriorating, and he was kept on ventilator support. Due to mounting medical expenses, the family decided to bring him back to their hometown on Monday, January 12.

According to reports, doctors in Mangaluru had warned the family that Pavithran’s survival without ventilator support was unlikely and estimated that he would succumb within ten minutes of its removal. After shifting him, Pavithran showed no signs of life, including extremely low blood pressure, leading his family to believe he had passed away.

Upon reaching their village, the family decided to place the body in the AKG Hospital mortuary and prepare for the last rites scheduled for Tuesday, January 13. However, when the ambulance arrived at the mortuary, a startling event occurred. Jayan, a mortuary attendant, noticed Pavithran’s hand moving.

Alerted by this unexpected development, Jayan called the hospital electrician Anoop for assistance. The staff promptly informed Pavithran’s family and doctors. A subsequent examination revealed that Pavithran’s blood pressure was normal, and he was immediately shifted to the ICU for further treatment.

According to reports, doctors at AKG Hospital on Wednesday, January 15, said that Pavithran is responding positively to treatment, despite his critical condition. He opened his eyes when his name was called and has shown significant signs of improvement.

Interestingly, local newspapers had already published obituaries with Pavithran’s photograph, and several well-wishers had visited his home to offer condolences. The incident has now become the talk of the town, with many expressing disbelief and relief over the miraculous turn of events.
